It started with a wheel!

The idea to this company was born 1992 by Johan Nissvik, a former golf professional. As with many entrepreneurs and new companies ideas are born by problems you experience and want to solve, hobbies or areas of interest that you dream can support your living and the experience and competence one possess.

For Johan who lived his dream, to play golf as tour player, it was a way to stay in the industry. Maybe not as he thought from the beginning, to develop his game as a tour player on the Swedish Professionals Tour (SGT). The results failed to come and the opportunity to live as golf professional was not there.

In the beginning and middle of the 90’s, when he made his years on the tour, all players made their own tournament yardage guides for each and every tournament. Players run around on the golf courses with their measuring-wheels and tried to capture all interesting in and out measurements as quickly as possible. To map took time from preparation and initial rounds on the course.

The idea itself, to start making yardage guides struck him on a rainy preparation-day at Borås Open. Tired of the weather and the time-consuming mapping, Johan assumed that a lot of the tour players would easily pay for this service.

With his background as a software programmer, designer and a driving force as an entrepreneur his new road was problem solving within his area of interest. Equipped with a GEODIMETER with a prisma and handmade sketches of golf courses the tour players had the opportunity to buy tour yardage guides on the Swedish Professional Tour (SGT).

The first yardage guide took almost 2 months from start to finish – mapping, design and production. From there to todays 2 days is a long journey with development of our own software both for capture and processing of data. From strains of own judgment of distances to inches precise GPS mapping of all objects and height information. Finally from handmade sketches and simple copying of tour yardage guides to a product portfolio that solves all presentation needs in different media a modern golf course of today has.

TourGolf Scandinavia as it is formed today was structured 2005. Then, after more than 10 years in business, we started an intensified technique and product development and at the same time we made our visions and goals more explicit.
